Charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, second-degree threatening, breach of peace and third-degree assault is Curtis Williams, 31, of 23 Warren St. His bond was set at $5,000.
Robert Williams, 30, 95 Dean St., was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. His bond was set at $2,500.
Police said the incident began when a 21-year-old woman complained to her 31-year-old boyfriend about a strange text she received from a number she didn't recognize. The boyfriend recognized the number as belonging to a man he knew who lived in the same building. After an exchange of some texts Curtis Williams and his brother Robert confronted the 31-year-old man outside the Warren Street residence just after 5 p.m., police said.
Police said the brothers attacked the man and punched him around his head. When the man's girlfriend tried to intervene she was allegedly pushed into a fence by Robert Williams, police said.
"During the confrontation Curtis Williams pulled out a knife and waved it at the complainant," said Sgt. Jennifer Lynch.
Neighbors heard the commotion and called 911. When police arrived they saw Curtis Williams attempting to flee back into his residence but he was prevented by police from doing so, according to police reports. Police said an eight-and-a-half inch folding knife was found in his pocket.
